2008 MAIE Conference Notes

The MAIE State Conference took place on Thursday, February 14 and Friday, February 15 at the Hilton - Jackson. 

The keynote speaker was Liz Cleveland.  Ms. Liz Cleveland is Manager of the International Trade Office, Global Business Division, of the Mississippi Development Authority.  Ms. Cleveland has worked in international marketing and development for MDA since 1982.  Ms. Cleveland is experienced in most aspects of international business development and has traveled and promoted Mississippi products and services throughout Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa.  Her current primary responsibility is the development and implementation of the international trade division's programs and services on behalf of the State of Mississippi.  Read more about her background at http://www.mississippi.org/content.aspx?url=/page/staff&bio=241.

Also, MAIE held elections for the positions of Chair-Elect and NAFSA Region VII Representative. We are happy to announce that Kathie Stromile-Golden of Mississippi Valley State University will be our new Chair-Elect and that Darleana McHenry of St. Carrie's Center will be our new NAFSA Region VII Representative.

Furthermore, we are happy to announce that during the business meeting, MAIE voted to move future state conferences to a rotating schedule amont various institutions in the state. The MAIE 2009 conference will take place at Mississippi State University, and is tentatively set for February 12 and 13.

During the meeting the following rotation was set for the upcoming 4 state conferences:
2009 MAIE Winter Conference - Mississippi State University
2010 MAIE Winter Conference - Mississippi Valley State University
2011 MAIE Winter Conference - Meridian Community College

2012 MAIE Winter Conference - University of Southern Mississippi
